Rebecca’s Roadmap

Created in collaboration with Cleveland City Council candidate (and dear friend) Rebecca Maurer, this illustration lays out Rebecca’s policy priorities for today’s Ward 5 and the city as a whole. I deeply admire Rebecca’s commitment to advocating for her constituents, her determination to speak truth to power, and her love for the city we both call home.

Naked and Afraid of Long COVID

Long COVID and other chronic conditions - ME/CFS, chronic Lyme, autoimmunity, etc. - have gained attention and recognition over the last decade, but are still often discounted as fanciful, incomprehensible, and/or psychosomatic phenomena by the general public. This 20-page autobio comic aims to demystify the experience of chronic illness using the popular reality television program “Naked and Afraid” as metaphor, pointing out humorous and unexpected parallels between the experience of survivalists in the wild and the daily reality of a disabled sick person.

The Bird and the Fish

This children’s book - my first! - tells the friendship story of a salmon and a cormorant who, despite inhabiting different worlds, form a deep connection and experience many adventures together. Drawing inspiration from timeless pieces like “The Missing Piece” by Shel Silverstein and “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister, this book aims to teach young readers the importance of staying true to oneself and embracing transition while also honoring past relationships and experience.
